Graystone Ear, Nose & Throat Sinus CT Scanner Receives Prestigious ICACTL Accreditation

Graystone ENT Sinus CT Scanner allows us to evaluate sinus disease quickly: 20 seconds for pediatric CT scan; 40 seconds for adult CT scan.

One of only 13 healthcare providers in the state of North Carolina to achieve the prestigious ICACTL (Intersocietal Commission for the Accreditation of Computed Tomography Laboratories) accreditation, Graystone Ear, Nose & Throat has met the nationally recognized, intersocietal standards for the performance of quality CT procedures, accurate diagnostic testing, and commitment to high quality patient care. Dr. Frank W. Mauldin is Medical Director and Technical Director for the CT scanner.

"Both Dr. Robert Williams and I are extremely proud of our sinus CT scanner ICACTL accreditation," said Mauldin. "Our in-office CT scanner offers immediate imaging and an efficient method for accurate diagnosis of nasal and sinus disease, critical for treatment planning."

"We strive to provide our patients with the best healthcare, and one of the biggest advantages of on-site CT capability is patient convenience," said Mauldin. "Many Graystone Ear, Nose & Throat patients receive a CT scan of the sinuses, an interpretation of the scan, and a discussion of treatment options all in one visit. The ICACTL accreditation means we can assure our patients the quality and safety of an in-office sinus CT scan."

The distinguished ICACTL accreditation completes a year-long application program, which required Graystone Ear, Nose & Throat to submit documents and detailed information about operational and technical components, protocols, and case studies for review by a panel of experts.

Computed Tomography (CT) is a highly regarded diagnostic imaging tool due to its ability to detect minute differences in tissues as well as its multi-planar reformatted imaging capabilities. An estimated 62 million CT scans are performed in the United States each year to diagnose conditions of the neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, extremities, cardiac system, and sinus and temporal bones.
